The "Gonzo"
Bass - Elegant Simplicity at it's best!:
The woods used to create this beauty,
are: Butternut wood (for the wing panels), and spalted maple and walnut
trim (for the center). The Danish oiled finish provides a satiny smooth
soft luster that brings out the beauty of the wood grain, and provides
protection and appealing good looks, with easy maintenance. The back also
features a cavity control cover made from matching butternut, keeping the
look look as elegant as possible!
The weight of this instrument is light
and well balanced due to the combination of the woods selected, and results
in an extremely comfortable bass. The over all dimensions are approximately
121/2" x 17" x 1 13/16" thick, so that it would retain the small bass appeal
of the Steinberger concept, while still providing a unique and classy,
but slightly "beefier" look. This was important to Gonzo, because small
bass bodies often don't look right on folks with bigger and taller physiques.
Like Wes, Gonzo selected EMG active pickups
for his dream bass, and the position of the controls was largely determined
by this circuitry. You can choose what ever type of pickups you prefer,
and your bass body can be supplied pre-wired complete with pickups, or
without, it's up to you!

Body? This baby (body only) is $400.00 US (or $555.00
Canadian). Prices vary depending on type of wood selected, and/or options
