Telus 1X / EV-DO Data Usage Summary                                                                                                                                                                spring 06
Clients can monitor their various data usage from the mytelusmobility.com web site. They can get up to a 90 day history of data usage, text & multimedia messages, java downloads, handset browsing, everything. Just log in to mytelusmobility.com, go to e.care / usage summary / data usage summary. Here is a sample of the information you'll get.
Telus did something smart . . .                                                                                                                                                                                  spring 06
They've enabled a few different email systems that can be accessed directly from your PCS phone.
You don't have to go through the multimedia messaging trick I've been using up `til now.
Aaaaand, you can access non-Telus accounts, you could get to almost any email directly from your phone now.
And the best bit - it's all free. Or at least it seems to be, since there is no pricing on the links like other places you can go via the web browser.
Using them is very basic. Very similar to an internet webmail system, but geared for the phone.
You can check, receive, send, add contacts, get notifications, etc.
You really do have full function email capability now via your phone. Finally!!
All this is through the web browser, not text messaging.
Analog coverage shutdown plans                                                                                                                                                                             spring 06
The shutdown is going to be transitional, good digital coverage areas and less used sites will start to be shut down this summer. The most used sites will be the last to go, through late 2007. Everywhere will be off fer good come Jan 1 2008. Oh, and the CDPD data network will be shutdown everywhere Jan 31 2007.
Wireless Boosters
I have uploaded a graph showing the results of what a 3 watt "wireless booster" actually amplifies. As can be seen, when working properly, the actual performance is quite different from what is implied in the slick sheets.
